The blue screen of death (BSOD), is the informal name given by Windows users to a system crash that causes the computer to lock up and the screen to turn entirely blue.  The blue screen of death can strike anyone, anywhere. At a Comdex trade show, Microsoft Chairman, Bill Gates, encountered the blue screen during a demonstration of Windows 98. Luckily, he had a spare computer standing by.
